RESOLUTION NO. 2466
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS
PROVIDING A DESTRUCTION SCHEDULE FOR CERTAIN RECORDS
WHEREAS, Section 34090 of the Government Code of the State of
California provides that a head of a City Department may destroy any
City record under his charge without making a copy thereof after the
record is no longer required, with the exception of:
A, Records affecting the title to real
property or liens thereon.
B. Court records.
C. Records required to be kept by statue.
D. Records less than five years old.
E. The minutes, ordinances , or resolutions
of the legislative body or of a city
board or commission.
and,
WHEREAS, in the course of doing business as a Municipal Cor-
poration, the City of Redlands creates certain records not required by
law or convention, but only as a convenience to the Department to
facilitate the operation of the Department, and
WHEREAS, the Director of Public Works and the Director of
Finance as department heads have determined that the records described
herein are no longer required, that they are not excepted under Sec-
tion 34090 of the Government Code of the State of California, and that
such records should be destroyed; and
WHEREAS, the consent in writing of the City Attorney has been
given for the destruction of said records as hereinafter stated, and a
copy of such consent is attached hereto as Exhibit A and incorporated
herein,,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Redlands that , pursuant to the provisions of Section 34090 of
the Government Code of the State of California, the following records
may be destroyed no sooner than five years from the date of the last
entry
Utility billing ledgers and journals .
Irrigation ledgers and journals .
Meter deposit ledgers and other meter
deposit records.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Redlands that the following records fall within the definition of para-
graph 2 herein and may be destroyed at any time after the annual inde-
pendent audit has been completed,
Utility bill payment stubs and matching
office copy portion of bill .
Irrigation receipts.
Service connection receipts .

WRITTEN CONSENT OF CITY ATTORNEY IN ACCORDANCE WITH
GOVERNMENT CODE SECTION 34090
The undersigned, as City Attorney of the City of Red-
lands, hereby states that he has examined the documents listed
in Resolution No . 2466 and sought to be destroyed by the Di-
rector of Finance in accordance with Section 34090 of the
Government Code. These documents being no longer required,
are subject to no excepting provisions of the Government Code,
and, as City Attorney, I hereby give my written consent for
their destruction®
