A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
REDLANDS APPROVING THE DESTRUCTION OF CERTAIN
VIDEO AND AUDIO CITY RECORDS
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Redlands ("this City Council") on
February 20, 2007, adopted Resolution No. 6576 to establish regulations governing the
retention and destruction of City records; and
WHEREAS, City staff regularly videotapes and audiotapes meetings of the City
Council and City boards and commissions; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Government Code section 34090 et seq., this City
Council must give its approval for the destruction of City records; and
WHEREAS, Resolution No. 6576 allows destruction of video recordings after 90
days, and audio recordings after 30 days; and
WHEREAS, rather than seek the approval of this City Council for each and every
request of City staff to destroy video and audio recordings of City Council and City board
and commission meetings, to promote efficient and economical operations of the City it
is the desire of this City Council to adopt this resolution authorizing City staff to destroy
all such existing and future video and audio media provided the requirements of
Government Code section 34090 et seq. are otherwise satisfied;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Redlands as follows:
Section 1. This City Council hereby approves of the destruction of videotape and
audiotape media of meetings of the City Council, and other City boards and commissions
for which written minutes of the event are kept, upon City staffs compliance with the
requirements of Resolution No. 6576 and subject to the review and approval of the City
Attorney.
