HomeMy WebLinkAbout6087_CCv0001.pdf RESOLUTION NO. 6087 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS DETERMINING THAT HORSE BOARDING AND TRAINING FACILITIES ARE A PERMITTED USE IN THE A-1, AGRICULTURAL DISTRICT OF THE CITY Whereas, Section 18.12 of the Redlands Municipal Code authorizes the Planning Commission of the City of Redlands("this Planning Commission")to recommend a determination of which zone unlisted uses should be permitted, and Whereas, Section 18.12 of the Redlands Municipal Code authorizes the City Council of the City of Redlands("this City Council")to approve unlisted uses in a particular zone upon a Planning Commission recommendation; and Whereas on the 27th day of August,2002 the Planning Commission of the City of Redlands considered a request for a Commission Determination that horse boarding and training is similar to the grazing, breeding or raising of horses in the A-1, Agricultural District; and Whereas on said date the Planning Commission of the City of Redlands considered Commission Determination No. 63 in accordance with Section of the Redlands Municipal Code 18.12.050 and found the following: i. That the use is in conformity with the stated intent and purpose of the A-], Agricultural District. The purpose of the A-1, Agricultural District is to provide for the proper utilization of those lands best suited for agricultural purposes, and to prevent the encroachment of incompatible uses. The boarding and training of horses is a proper utilization of land zoned A-1, Agricultural.. 2. That field investigations have disclosed that the boarding and training of horses and its operations are compatible with the uses permitted in the A-1, Agricultural District where the proposed use is to be located. 3. That the boarding and training of horses is similar to one or more uses permitted in the A-1, Agricultural District. This district allows farms or ranches for the grazing, breeding or raising of horses as a permitted use. The boarding and training of horses is substantially similar to this permitted use. 4. That the boarding of horses will not cause substantial injury to the use of property in the abutting R-R, Rural Residential District to the north. The keeping of horses is a permitted use in the R-R, Rural Residential District. 1 THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS as follows: Horse boarding and training facilities shall be a permitted use in the A-1, Agricultural District subject to the same limits prescribed for farms and ranches for the grazing, breeding or raising of horses. ADOPTED, SIGNED AND APPROVED this 17th day of September, 2002.
