HomeMy WebLinkAbout6470_CCv0001.pdf RESOLUTION NO. 6470 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS ESTABLISHING A PRIORITY LISTING OF CITY DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS FOR PURPOSES OF FEDERAL AND STATE FUNDING FOR THE YEAR 2007 WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Redlands ("this City Council") is seeking to continue efforts for funding of existing development projects and to undertake new City-initiated development projects to address community-wide needs in the business-development, recreational, public safety and city-infrastructure fields for the benefit of its citizens and to enhance the overall quality of life in Redlands; and WHEREAS, this City Council is aware that several of the City development projects may be eligible for various types of federal and state funding, through grants and otherwise; and WHEREAS, this City Council has expressed its desire to aggressively pursue such federal and state funding to help defray the direct costs of such projects and to expedite their design and construction; and WHEREAS, it is the intention of this City Council by the adoption of this Resolution to identify a listing of City development projects for purpose of informing our Congressional and State representatives of their order of priority. NOW, THEREFORE, BE 1T RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Redlands as follows: Section 1. The following City-initiated development projects are hereby listed for purposes of eligibility for federal and state funding: A. Technology funds for Justice Center to purchase the necessary equipment and infrastructure to establish a state-of-the-art communications center and continuation of COMPASS unit which analyzes data to support the prevention, intervention and suppression of crime. B. Parr Once Project — Phase Il --- downtown improvements to include three parking structures, pedestrian improvements and amenities to provide an urban environment that can help preserve and enhance the entire downtown area of Redlands. C. Flood control for downtown — acquisition, design and construction of Crafton Detention Basin to eliminate the 100-year floodplain, which includes the central business district, the University of Redlands, hundreds of homes and industrial uses. D. Redlands Sports Park - consisting of three main elements: a sports park, a detention basin for flood control, and a conservation area for the federally endangered San Bernardino Kangaroo Rat. E. Resolution of Seven Oaks Dam water quality impacts - this project will ascertain the nature and extent of water quality degradation in the Santa Ana River resulting from the construction and operation of the Seven Oaks Dam, offset the loss of water supply to local agencies in the short term, and design and implement a long term solution for restoration of the water quality and flows historically relied upon by local water agencies F. Construction of Fire Station 264 - currently, personnel are responding from a temporary structure at 1270 W. Park. Plans providing for a permanent two-bay apparatus floor and living quarters have been approved, and the project awaits funding. Construction costs are estimated at $2.5 million.
