Barich requesting the commemorative street renaming of "Shoppers Lane" as "Al Harris Lane" in honor of Alfred Harris; and WHEREAS, California Government Code Section 34091.1 allows a jurisdiction, by resolution, to name a new public street or to rename an existing public street; and WHEREAS, the naming of a new public street or the renaming of an existing public street is exempt from review under the California Environmental Quality Act of 1970 ("CEQA") pursuant to section 15061(b)(3) of the State's Guidelines implementing CEQA; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. In accordance with Government Code Section 34091.1, and pursuant to Street and Highways Code sections 970.5, 971, and 5026, the City Council hereby directs that the street presently designated as "Shoppers Lane" be renamed as "Al Harris Lane." Section 2. Pursuant to Government Code section 34092, and Street and Highways Code section 5026, the City Council hereby directs the City Clerk to promptly forward copies of this Resolution to the Board of Supervisors, Clerk, and Surveyor, for the county of San Bernardino. Section 3. The City's Municipal Utilities and Engineering Department staff is hereby directed to prepare new street signs and take all appropriate and necessary actions to implement this Resolution and the street name change.
