A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS APPROVING AMENDMENT
OF THE JOINT POWERS AGREEMENT FOR THE EAST VALLEY PLANNING
AGENCY
WHEREAS, the County of San Bernardino and the Cities of the
East Valley (Colton, Fontana, Redlands, Rialto and San Bernardino)
did form, under Joint Powers Agreement, the East Valley Planning
Agency as an advisory agency to promote coordinated and comprehan-
8ive planning; and
WHEREAS , the general purpose of this Agency is to provide a
new vehicle by which the individual communities in the East Valley
area of the County of San Bernardino may proceed with the special
planning studies needed within their respective communities while
still assuring that each of the said planning studies are coordinated
within the framework of a comprehensive area-wide plan; and
WHEREAS , the East Valley Planning Agency was conceived to in-
clude all incorporated cities in the East Valley and be adminis-
tered by a Governing Board composed of one Councilman appointed by
each incorporated City and the County Supervisors whose districts
lie within the East Valley7 and
WHEREAS, the Community of Loma Linda has conducted a duly
authorized election and has voted to become an incorporated city
and has filed the appropriate documents with the State of California,
and
WHEREAS, the Governing Board of the East valley Planning Agency
did pass a resolution to extend an invitation to the City of Loma
Linda to become a member of that Agency, and
WHEREAS , the duly elected City Council of Loma Linda has
accepted the invitation to become a member of the East Valley Plan-
ning Agency and has appointed a representative and alternate to
serve on the East Valley Planning Agency Governing Board;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the
City of Redlands does hereby adopt the Amendment to the joint Powers
Agreement creating the East Valley Planning Agency to include the
City of Loma Linda and authorize the Mayor to sign this Amendment.
ADOPTED, SIGNED AND APPROVED this l5th day of December, 1970.
