A RESOLU`T'ION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF REDLANDS ADOPTING REGULATIONS FOR
CANDIDATES FOR ELECTIVE OFFICE, PERTAINING TO
MATERIALS SUBMITTED TO THE ELECTORATE AND THE
COSTS THEREOF ,FOR THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL
ELECTION TO BE HELD IN SAID CITY ON TUESDAY,
November 5, 1991
WHEREAS, Section 10012 of the Election Code of the State of
California provides that the governing body of any local agency
adopt regulations pertaining to materials prepared by an
candidate for a municipal election, including costs thereof; y
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
does hereby resolve, declare, determine and order as o follows:
SECTION 1. GENERAL PROVISIONS. That
pursuant
10012 of the Elections Code of the State ofCal forEniae each
candidate for elective office to be voted for at the General
Municipal Election to be held in the City of Redlands on Tuesday,
November 5, 1991, may prepare a candidate ' s statement on an
appropriate form provided by the City Clerk . Such statement may
include the name, age , and occupation of the candidate and a
brief description of no more than 200 words of the candidate' s
education and qualifications expressed by the candidate himself.
Such statement shall not include
candidate, nor membership or activity int any p f f i l i san P i the
organizations. Such statement shall be filedin the office cof
the City Clerk at the time the candidate 's nomination papers are
filed . Such statement may be withdrawn,
the period for filing nomination but not changed, during
a
the next working day after the close ofrthennom nati n pe Punil 5: 00 d . of
SECTION 2 . SPANISH LANGUAGE. The City Clerk shall have
translated and printed in the voters
pamphletthe
statements of those candidates whorequestntranslation nand
printing .
SECTION 3 . ADDITIONAL MATERIALS. No candidate will be
permitted to include additional materials in the sample ballot
package.
SECTION 4 . PAYMENT. The City Clerk shall estimate the
total cost of printing , handling, translating, and mail '
candidates statement filed mailing the

or her pro rata share as a condition of having his or her state-
ment included in the voter' s pamphlet. The City Clerk shall bill
each candidate for any cost in excess of the deposit and sh
refund any unused portion of any deposit. all
SECTION 5. The City Clerk shall provide each candidate or
the candidate' s representative a copy of this Resolution at the
time nominating petitions are issued .
SECTION 6 . That all previous resolutions establishing
Council policy on payment for candidates ' statements are
repealed .
SECTION 7. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage and
adoption of this Resolution.
