A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS FOR PAYING
AND REPORTING THE VALUE OF EMPLOYER PAID MEMBER CONTRIBUTIONS
WHEREAS, the governing body of the City of Redlands has the authority to implement
Government Code Section 20636(c) (4)pursuant to Section 20691; and
WHEREAS, the governing body of the City of Redlands has a written labor policy or
agreement which specifically provides for the normal member contributions to be paid by the
employer, and reported as additional compensation; and
WHEREAS, one of the steps in the procedures to implement Section 20691 is the
adoption by the City Council of the City of Redlands of a resolution to corrnnence paying and
reporting the value of said Employer Paid Member Contributions (EPMC); and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Redlands has identified the following
conditions for the purpose of its election to pay EPMC:
• This benefit shall apply to "classic" members of PERS as defined by CalPERS hired
prior to March 11, 2010, of the Redlands Association of Department Directors
(RADD).
• Effective the first payroll period commencing on or after April 15, 2014, the benefit
shall consist of paying six percent (6%) of normal contributions for safety members
and four percent (4%) for miscellaneous members as EPMC, and reporting the same
percent of compensation earnable as additional compensation.
• Effective the first payroll period commencing on or after July 1, 2014, the benefit
shall consist of paying four percent (4%) of normal contributions for safety members
and two percent (2%) for iniscellaneous members as EPMC, and reporting the same
percent of compensation earnable as additional compensation.
• Effective the first payroll commencing on or after January 1, 2015, the benefit shall
consist of paying zero percent (0%) of normal contributions for miscellaneous and
safety members as EPMC, and reporting the same percent of compensation earnable
as additional compensation.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Redlands
elects to pay and report the value of EPMC, as set forth above.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the effective date of this resolution shall be June 2,
2015.
