RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF R.EDLANDS APPROVING THE
DEFINITIONS OF ENCLOSED PUBLIC AREAS IN PUBLIC PARKS
WHEREAS, the City of Redlands Community Services Department maintains and
operates a park system for the citizens of the community; and
WHEREAS, the people of the State of California have enacted Article XI, Section
7 of the California Constitution empowering cities to make and enforce within their
limits all local police, sanitary and other ordinances not in conflict with general laws;
and
WHEREAS, the Redlands Municipal Code, Section 12.44.270 does allow, through
the permitting process, the consumption of alcoholic beverages or liquors in enclosed
public areas in public parks.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of
Redlands does hereby adopt the definitions of enclosed public areas as attached to
this resolution as Exhibit "A".

EXHIBIT "A'
Definitions of Enclosed Public Areas in Public Parks
The following definitions shall apply in the filing of a permit with the City when
requesting alcoholic beverages and liquors be consumed in public parks in enclosed
public areas:
1. Alcoholic Drink - any spirituous, vinous, malt, or mixed liquors.
2. Public Park - as defined in Section 12.44.010 C of the Redlands
Municipal Code.
3. Permit - as defined in Section 1.2.44.010 D of the Redlands
Municipal Code.
4. Enclosed Public Area
a. Building - that portion of a structure which is roofed and walled, and is
allowed for the general use of the public.
b. Theatre - an outdoor structure providing for visual and performing arts.
i. Redlands Bowl - that portion of the seating area and extending in
a westerly direction to eight feet within the curb face of Grant
Street, extending in an easterly direction to eight feet within the
curb face of Eureka Street, extending in a southerly direction to the
park property line and extending in a northerly direction to the
park property line.
ii. Avice Meeker Sewell Theatre - that portion of the seating area and
extending to within 100 feet of said seating area.
c. Other Enclosed Public Areas- those areas which have been approved for
use and secured by a barrier, portable fence, screen or other material
approved by the Community Services Director.
