A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS
SUPPORTING THE ANNEXATION OF ASSESSOR'S PARCEL NUMBER 0300-
241-16 TO THE YUCAIPA VALLEY WATER DISTRICT FOR DRINKING
WATER, RECYCLED WATER, AND SEWER SERVICE
WHEREAS, the Yucaipa Valley Water District has received a property owner initiated
request for the annexation of approximately 31.8 acres (APN 0300-241-16) to the Yucaipa Valley
Water District for drinking water, recycled water, and sewer service as shown in Exhibit A; and
WHEREAS, the property owner has expressed an interest in receiving services from
Yucaipa Valley Water District beginning with recycled water which will be provided from an
existing recycled water pipeline located immediately adjacent to the property; and
WHEREAS, by receiving services from Yucaipa Valley Water District, this property will
be less dependent on local groundwater supplies which will reduce the impacts to groundwater
dependent ecosystems in Live Oak Canyon; and
WHEREAS, the use of recycled water for irrigation uses in Live Oak Canyon is consistent
with the 2035 General Plan which has the overall guiding principle of preserving agricultural land
uses around the City of Redland's periphery as an Emerald Necklace; and
WHEREAS, an active partnership between the City of Redlands and the Yucaipa Valley
Water District to expand the use of recycled water and to ultimately minimize the water quality
impacts of septic systems in Live Oak Canyon should be further explored to identify mutually
favorable projects and funding opportunities.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS HEREBY
RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The above recitals are true and correct and are incorporated herein by this
reference.
Section 2. The City Council finds that the annexation of approximately 31.8 acres of land
within the City of Redlands as Assessor's Parcel Number 0300-241-16 for utility services by the
Yucaipa Valley Water District is consistent with the 2035 General Plan and facilitates the goals
of enhancing agricultural uses and improved wildlife corridors for property in Live Oak Canyon.
Therefore the City Council supports the annexation of this parcel by * Y aipa Va Water
District.
