HomeMy WebLinkAbout6662_CCv0001.pdf RESOLUTION NO. 6662 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS AUTHORIZING ESTABLISHMENT OF PERMIT PROCESSING INCENTIVES FOR LEADERSHIP IN ENERGY AND ENVIRONMENTAL DESIGN (LEED) DEVELOPMENT WHEREAS, green building is a process for creating buildings and supporting infrastructure that minimizes the use of resources, reduces harmful effects on the environment, and creates healthier environments for people; and WHEREAS, green building and LEED development is associated with environmental benefits such as solid waste reduction, improved water quality, improved air quality, energy conservation, and greenhouse gas reductions; and WHEREAS, the City Council adopted the U.S. Mayors' Climate Protection Agreement on October 16, 2007; and WHEREAS, the Climate Protection Agreement encourages the City to promote LEED Development; and Whereas, providing permit processing incentives for LEED development that streamlines and shortens the time it takes to permit LEED projects will encourage and promote LEED development; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT: The City Council authorizes permit processing incentives for LEED development that will move LEED projects to the "head of the line", causing LEED projects to be reviewed for permitting purposes before other pending development projects.
