A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS
ESTABLISHING PARKING REGULATIONS PURSUANT TO SECTION 10.40.090 OF
THE REDLANDS MUNICIPAL CODE
WHEREAS, the City's proposed Saturday Morning Certified Farmers' Market will be
a seasonal community event that provides the community with an opportunity to support
local farmers and to purchase fresh produce during the spring and summer months; and
WHEREAS, the Saturday Morning Certified Farmers' Market will bring visitors to the
City's downtown, thereby assisting in the economic vitality of Redlands; and
WHEREAS, the Saturday Morning Certified Farmers' Market implements policy
11 .0g of the City's General Plan by developing and fostering the expansion and retention of
numerous local businesses; and
WHEREAS, the Saturday Morning Certified Farmers' Market would utilize the
municipal parking facilities on the south side of Redlands Boulevard between Fifth and
Sixth streets; and
WHEREAS, the Saturday Morning Certified Farmers' Market would operate during
the months of April through September from 6:00 a.m. until 11 :00 a.m.; and
WHEREAS, the closing of the City's parking lot located on the south side of
Redlands Boulevard between Fifth and Sixth streets is necessary for conducting the
Saturday Morning Certified Farmers' Market and is necessary forthe safety and protection
of persons who are to use those portions of the parking lot during the hours of this special
event in accordance with Section 10.40.090 of the Redlands Municipal Code;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Redlands
that pursuant to Title 10 of the Redlands Municipal Code, the City Council hereby finds and
determines that traffic conditions, the convenience of the public, and safety and protection
of persons require that certain regulations are necessary and shall be established pursuant
to Title 10 of the Redlands Municipal Code, and that the Quality of Life Director of the City
of Redlands is hereby directed to perform such acts as are necessary to accomplish the
following:
Section One: Pursuant to Section 10.40.090 of the Redlands Municipal Code, no
parking shall be permitted in the municipal parking lot located on the south side of
Redlands Boulevard between Fifth and Sixth streets as shown on Exhibit "A" when the
Saturday Morning Certified Farmers' Market is setting up and operating during the months
of April through September annually between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.
ADOPTED, SIGNED AND APPROVED this 3rd day of February, 2009.
