A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS
REQUESTING FEDERAL AID TO REPAIR FLOOD DAMAGED FACILITIES
WHEREAS , on the 26th day of January, 1969, the President
declared a major disaster in the County of San Bernardino, State
of California, under the provisions of Public Law 875, 81st Con-
gress , as amended;
WHEREAS , the City of Redlands is a public entity, incorpo-
rated as a General Law city under the laws of the State of Cali-
fornia in San Bernardino County; and
WHEREAS , the Redlands Municipal Airport is a city owned and
operated facility;
WHEREAS , the Redlands Municipal Airport has been damaged and
endangered by the encroachment and erosion of flood waters of the
Santa Ana River and Mill Creek;
WHEREAS , this facility is of vital importance to the safety
and welfare of the community of Redlands and the surrounding area;
WHEREAS , the repair of existing protective walls and levees
is urgently needed and beyond the physical capabilities of the
City of Redlands to perform this work;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Redlands that the Office of Emergency Planning be and is
hereby requested to have the appropriate Federal agency perform
the following emergency work essential to the health, safety and
welfare of the people and property of this public entity:
1. Effect repairs to existing levees on the north boundary
of the Redlands Municipal Airport.
2. Construct additional levees as necessary to provide
protection from future floods .
This body certifies that, to the best of its knowledge and
belief, the requested work is eligible under Public Law 875, 81st
Congress, as amended, and agrees to (a) provide without cost to
the United States all lands, easements, and rights of way neces-
sary for accomplishment of the approved work; and (b) hold and
save the United States free from damages due to the approved work.
ADOPTED, SIGNED AND APPROVED this 18th day of February, 1969.
