HomeMy WebLinkAbout6833_CCv0001.pdf RESOLUTION NO. 6833 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE REDLANDS ESTABLISHING SPECIFIC FEES AND CHARGES TO RECOVER COSTS REASONABLY BORNE AND RESCINDING RESOLUTION NO. 6809 WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Redlands ("this City Council") has found and determined that the detrimental effects of vacant, abandoned properties lead to neighborhood decline, public nuisances, lower property values, mosquito and vector control issues, increased crime and the discouragement of buyers from purchasing homes adjacent to or within neighborhoods with such vacant, abandoned properties; and WHEREAS, to preserve the public health and safety of the residents of Redlands, this City Council adopted Ordinance No. 2709 adding Chapter 8.10 to the Redlands Municipal Code to establish regulations governing vacant, abandoned properties; and WHEREAS, Chapter 8.10 of the Redlands Municipal Code requires that owners of vacant, abandoned properties annually register such properties with the City on forms provided by the City; and WHEREAS, Chapter 8.10 of the Redlands Municipal Code further authorizes the City, by resolution of the City Council, to establish an annual fee for the registration of vacant, abandoned properties in an amount that reflects the cost reasonably borne by the City in processing such registrations; and WHEREAS, by adoption of this resolution, it is the desire of the City Council of the City of Redlands to establish a fee for the annual registration of abandoned properties, in an amount that reflects the costs reasonably borne by the City in processing such registrations and applications; NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Redlands as follows: Section 1. The specific fees and charges for the corresponding regulations products and services provided by the City as enumerated in Chapter 3.16 of the Redlands Municipal Code are hereby established in the amounts shown in Exhibit "A," which is attached to this Resolution and incorporated herein by this reference. Section 2. Resolution No. 6809 is hereby rescinded. Section 3. The City Council hereby finds and determines that the adoption of this Resolution is exempt from review under the California Environmental Quality Act pursuant to Public Resources Code Section 21080 (b)(8)because this Resolution approves and establishes a procedure for the purpose of meeting the operating expenses of the City.
