A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS
ESTABLISHING FEES FOR RETRIEVAL AND STORAGE OF ABANDONED SHOPPING
CARTS
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Redlands has adopted Chapter 8.72 of the
Redlands Municipal Code, to address the abandonment of shopping carts within the City; and,
WHEREAS, to implement the abatement program established by Chapter 8.72, the City
must provide additional staff services; and
WHEREAS, a need exits for the City to recover its staff servicing costs through the
establishment of a fee schedule to offset such costs inclusive of City administrative and overhead
charges; and
WHEREAS, Section 8.72.060 of the Redlands Municipal Code authorizes the City Council
to establish the fees for the retrieval and storage of shopping carts.
Section 1. The following fee set by this Resolution is the reasonable costs incurred by
the City in providing employee services to conduct the retrieval, storage
and processing of shopping carts within the City.
1. Fee Per Cart Collected $25.00/cart
Section 2, The City Manager is hereby authorized to reduce or waive the fee
established by this resolution pursuant to Chapter 8.72 if he believes it to
be excessive for any individual cart owner.
