A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS
ESTABLISHING A FEE FOR THE REVIEW AND APPROVAL
OF INITIAL RECYCLING PLANS FOR LARGE VENUES
WHEREAS, the State of California enacted AB 2176 (Chapter 879, Stats. 2004)
which has been codified in part as Public Resources Code section 42648 et seq. for the
purpose of promoting waste diversion from large venues and events; and
WHEREAS, the above-mentioned legislation and statutory law requires large
venues and events to report annually to the City, and the City to report annually to the
State, on the implementation of recycling in large venues and events; and
WHEREAS, section 42648.7 specifically authorizes a local agency to charge and
collect a fee from an operator of a large venue in order to receive the costs incurred by the
local agency in complying with the provisions of Public Resources Code section 42648
et seq.; and
WHEREAS, Chapter 13.65 of the Redlands Municipal Code establishes procedures
to approve and review initial Recycling Plans for Large Venues;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Redlands
as follows:
Section 1 . The City Council of the City of Redlands hereby establishes a fee in the
amount of one hundred dollars ($100)to be charged and collected from operators of large
venues to reimburse the City's Municipal Utilities Department for the estimated costs the
City incurs for the technical assistance, review and approval of initial Recycling Plans for
each Large Venue.
Section 2. This Resolution shall take effect on the effective date of Ordinance
No. 2626.
