A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF REDLANDS OPPOSING INCREASE IN GAS RATES
WHEREAS the Southern California Gas Company has applied to
the Public Utilities Commission of the State of California, in
Case No. 50713, for an increase in gas rates , and
WHEREAS the announced purpose of the increase is to offset
an increase in cost of gas from its supplier in the amount of
2 . 14/Mcf, and
WHEREAS the proposed increase to the user varies from
3.4/Mcf to the firm user, which is the general public, to
. 34/Mcf to steam and cement plant users, and
WHEREAS the above spread would appear to indicate that either
the firm user would be subsidizing the steam and cement plants
or the steam and cement plants have been subsidizing the firm
user in the past, and
WHEREAS the data presented is insufficient to support a
premise of past subsidy on the part of the steam and cement plant
users;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the
City of Redlands is opposed to the increase as presented, and
protests on the grounds that the spread as proposed does not
fairly distribute the increase and is to the detriment of the
general public.
