A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS, CALIFORNIA,
REGARDING ALLOCATION OF STATE GASOLINE TAX MONIES AND FEDEFAL AID
HIGHWAY FUNDS.
WHEREAS, City and County road deficiencies, are increasing rapidly in
spite of the amounts of gas tax monies a-7ailable to said agencies under
present legislation; and
WHEREAS, Under the present system of financing� the proposed State

freeway program will be completed in 20 years, wthe City and Co i4,
hile ty
systems are estimated to take over 100 years to complete; and
WHZREAS, All traffic using the State freeways begins and ends it3
trip on local roads and streets; and
WHEREA5, The City Council of the Ci of Redlands Is in agreement

with the need for rapid construction of needed California freeways-, and
WHEREAS, There is also an urgent need for more and better trans-
portation facilities other than freeways; and
74'HEREAS, the City-County CoolrdinatinC Committee of San Bernardino
County has adopted a re8olutjion in substantial agreement with the following;
now therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, that the City 'Council of the City of Redlands goes on
record as supporting the fol-lowing legislation:
1a The adaption of city streets or county roads as extensions to
Federal-aid highways in urban areas and the construction and
mal i ntenance of such city streets or county roads with Federal
aid. A.B. 72).
2. The making available to oities and counties of 10 of additional
gas tax monies in the proportions recon m-ended by the League of
California Cities and the County Supervisors Association of
California, said additional monies to be matched by funds from
a local source.
3, The making available to oities and counties for expenditure upon
major streets and roads agreed to between the respective cities
and oount-ies a Percentage not to exceed 20al; of the State highway

construction funds allocated for expenditure in the County. (S.B. 47)
4. Providing that an amount equal to 2of rents received by -The
Department of Public Works from the lease of properties acquired
for State highray needs shall be distributed to the counties and
cities wherein the property is situated to be used for street and
highway purposes. (A.B. 62 S -; .169)
