A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS
AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF AN AMENDED GRANT AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE
CITY AND THE DEPARTMENT OF RESOURCES RECYCLING AND RECOVERY
(CAL RECYCLE)
WHEREAS, grant funds are available to the City of Redlands to fund the cost of
promoting recycling by multi-family housing developments; and,
WHEREAS, multi-family housing developments lack the focus on recycling that other
residential and commercial developments have established; and
WHEREAS, the need to recycle has never been greater in terms of environmental
benefits; and
WHEREAS, the City of Redlands has been advancing its goals set forth in the U.S.
Mayor's Climate Protection Agreement; and
WHEREAS, the successful implementation of a grant project to promote additional
recycling will not only provide immediate benefit to the City because it will help conserve
landfill space,the grant project and increased recycling also generates revenue for the City;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Redlands
as follows:
Section 1. The City Council of the City of Redlands hereby authorizes execution of
the amended grant agreement between the City and the Department of Resources Recycling and
Recovery (Cal Recycle) for the Multi-Family Recycling Program Grant.
Section 2. The City Council of the City of Redlands authorizes and empowers the
Mayor, or any member of the City Council, to execute in the name of the City of Redlands all
necessary applications, contracts, agreements and amendments for the purpose of securing grant
funds; and the Quality of Life Director or the Director's designee, to review, prepare and
authorize in the name of the City of Redlands all necessary payment requests, progress reports,
and final reports to implement and carry out the purposes specified in the grant application.
