A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RE,DLANDS
AUTHORIZING SUBMISSION OF A GRANT APPLICATION TO THE
DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY'S 2010 ENERGY AND WATER AND OTHER
RELATED AGENCIES APPROPRIATIONS ACT
WHEREAS, grant funds have been allocated in a congressionally directed project to the City of
Redlands (the "City„)under the 2010 Energy and Water and other Related Agencies Appropriations Act
from the Department of Energy for the purpose of funding projects that will contribute to sustainable
practices and research in terms of energy use and transmission; and,
WHEREAS, the City is actively engaged in numerous and diverse activities aimed at changing
the energy intensity usage of City-owned buildings and facilities, and privately-owned buildings and
facilities, community-wide; and,
WHEREAS, the City has been advancing its goals set forth in the U.S. Mayor's Climate
Protection Agreement; and,
WHEREAS, the successful implementation of a grant project will not only provide immediate
benefit to the City in the form of a fully-financed, brick and mortar project that decreases the City's
energy intensity usage dramatically, and also provides extended residual benefits through State and
Federal incentive programs for energy efficiency/conservation/renewabilty;
NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Redlands as
follows:
Section 1. The City Council of the City of Redlands authorizes submission of an application to
the Department of Energy for receiving the City's Congressionally Directed Project(Earmark)under the
2010 Energy and Water and Other Related Agencies Appropriations Act.
Section 2. The City Council of the City of Redlands authorizes and empowers the Mayor, or any
member of the City Council,to execute in the name of the City of Redlands all necessary applications,
contracts, agreements and amendments for the purpose of securing grant funds; and authorizes the City
Manager, or his designee, to review,prepare and submit in the name of the City of Redlands all
necessary payment requests,progress reports,and final reports to implement and carry out the purposes
specified in the grant application.
