A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS APPROVING THE APPLICATION OF
GRANT FUNDS FOR THE PLANNING AND COORDINATION OF ACTIVITIES WITHIN
REDLANDS TO FACILITATE THE AVAILABILITY OF CHILD DEVELOPMENT
SERVICES UNDER THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION, CHILD DEVELOPMENT
DIVISION LOCAL COORDINATION GRANT PROGRAM.
WHEREAS, the. City Council has recognized that quality, affordable
child care services are important to the working families of the
Redlands' community; and
WHEREAS, on November 1, 1988 the City Council established a Child
Care Task Force to collect information on current child care programs,
concerns of citizens, and to develop programs that meet the need of
year-round schools; and
WHEREAS, funding for the Redlands Child Care Task Force is
currently not available and this grant would greatly assist in meeting
this need; and
WHEREAS, the State Department of Education, Child Development
Division has made available one-time-only funds to cities and counties
for planning and coordination of activities within local government to
facilitate the availability of child development services, with grants
of up to $25, 000 with a required match of 25% in cash or in-kind
services.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City
of Redlands hereby:
1. Approves the filing of an application for the local coordination
grant program; and
2 . Certifies that said applicant understands the assurances and
certification in the application form; and
3 . Certifies that said applicant has or will have sufficient funds
to operate and maintain the project; and
4 . Appoints the City Manager as agent of the City of Redlands to
conduct all negotiations, execute and submit all documents
including, but not limited to applications, agreements,
amendments, payment requests and so on, which may be necessary
for the completion of the aforementioned project.
ADOPTED, SIGNED AND APPROVED this 20th day of December 1988 .
