RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS
AUTHORIZING SUBMISSION OF A GRANT APPLICATION
TO THE US ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY FOR A CLIMATE SHOWCASE
COMMUNITIES GRANT OPPORTUNITY
WHEREAS, grant funds have been made available by the US Environmental Protection
Agency (EPA) for the purpose of funding projects that are designed to address climate change
through the reduction of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in several priority areas, one of them
being energy performance in municipal operations; and
WHEREAS, the City of Redlands ("City")is actively engaged in several diverse activities
aimed at addressing climate change through the reduction of GHG emissions; and
WHEREAS, the City has been regularly advancing its GHG reduction goal, as set forth in
the U.S. Mayor's Climate Protection Agreement; and
WHEREAS, the successful implementation of a grant project will not only provide
immediate benefit to the City in the form of an additional source of funding for a budgeted
project, but will also provide additional benefits through increased energy independence for the
City's wastewater treatment plant;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF REDLANDS AS FOLLOWS::
Section 1. The City Council of the City of Redlands hereby authorizes the submission of
an application to the US Environmental Protection Agency for a Climate Showcase Communities
Grant on behalf of the City.
Section 2. The City Council of the City of Redlands hereby authorizes the Mayor, or any
member of the City Council, to execute in the name of the City of Redlands all necessary
applications, contracts, agreements and amendments for the purpose of securing grant funds. and
the Municipal Utilities and Engineering Director, or her designee, to review, prepare and
authorize in the name of the City of Redlands all necessary payment requests, progress reports,
and final reports to implement and carry out the purposes specified in the grant application.
