A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS AUTHORIZING
SUBMISSION OF A GRANT APPLICATION TO THE DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY'S
ENERGY EFFICIENCY AND CONSERVATION BLOCK GRANT PROGRAM
WHEREAS, grant funds have been identified for the City of Redlands (the"City") under the
Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant Program from the Department of Energy for the
purpose of funding projects that will make an immediate difference with respect to job creation and
retention, energy(kWh/therms/gallons/BTUs/etc.) saved, renewable energy generated and GHG
emissions reduced; and
WHEREAS, the City is actively engaging in numerous and diverse activities aimed at changing
the energy intensity usage of not only the City's buildings and facilities, but buildings and facilities
community-wide; and
WHEREAS, the City has been advancing its goals set forth in the U.S. Mayor's Climate
Protection Agreement; and
WHEREAS, the successful implementation of a grant project will not only provide immediate
benefit to the City in the form of a completely financed brick and mortar project that decreases the
City's energy intensity usage dramatically, but will also provide extended residual benefits through State
and Federal incentive programs for energy efficiency/conservation/renewability;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS
AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The City Council of the City of Redlands hereby authorizes the City's submission of
an application to the Department of Energy for the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant
Program funds identified for the City.
Section 2. The City Council of the City of Redlands hereby authorizes and empowers the
Mayor, or any member of the City Council, to execute in the name of the City all necessary applications,
contracts, agreements and amendments for the purpose of securing grant funds; and the Municipal
Utilities and Engineering Director, or her designee, to review, prepare, and authorize in the name of the
City all necessary payment requests, progress reports, and final reports to implement and carry out the
purposes specified in the grant application.
