A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS AUTHORIZING
SUBMISSION OF A GRANT APPLICATION TO THE COUNTY OF SAN BERNARDINO
DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH FOR A "HEALTHY CITY SPONSORSHIP"
WHEREAS, grant funds are available from the San Bernardino County Department
of Public Health for a "Healthy Cities" Sponsorship; and
WHEREAS, the City of Redlands is committed to fostering a healthy community by
promoting walkable and bicycle friendly environments, transportation options, trails, parks
and open space, and
WHEREAS, the City of Redlands seeks to expand its annual promotion of"Healthy
Cities" by hiring a part time staff person to coordinate a comprehensive campaign that will
coordinate the activities of numerous not-for-profit, government agencies and citizen
volunteers; and
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT:
1. The City Council of the City of Redlands authorizes submission of an
application to the County of San Bernardino Department of Public
Health for a 2008 "Healthy City" Sponsorship. The Mayor or any
member of the City Council of the City of Redlands is hereby
authorized and empowered to execute in the name of the City of
Redlands all necessary contracts, agreements and amendments
hereto for the purpose of securing grant funds.
2. The City Council of the City of Redlands authorizes and empowers
the Quality of Life Department Director in the name of the City of
Redlands to execute all necessary applications, payment requests,
progress reports, and final reports for the purposes of securing grant
funds and to implement and carry out the purposes specified in the
grant application.
