EXPRESSING THE CITY OF REDLANDS INTEREST AND
PARTICIPATION IN THE FILING OF APPLICATION,
TOGETHER WITH THE COUNTY OF SAN BERNARDINO
AND OTHER CITIES IN THE COUNTY, FOR A FEDERAL
GRANT TO PROVIDE FOR A REGIONAL LAW ENFORCE-
MENT HELICOPTER PATROL FOR THE SAN BERNARDINO
COUNTY AREA
WHEREAS, the County of San Bernardino is filing an
application for a Federal Grant to provide a regional
Law Enforcement Helicopter Patrol, and
WHEREAS, the various cities within the county of
San Bernardino, especially Chino, Colton, Fontana,
Montclair, Ontario, Redlands, Rialto, San Bernardino,
and Upland, have been invited by the county to participate
in and benefit from this Law Enforcement Helicopter Patrol,
and
WHEREAS, it has been demonstrated that in cities
where law enforcement helicopters have been used that
there has been a reduction in crime, and
WHEREAS, this patrol will include part-time law
enforcement helicopter coverage of the city of Redlands
and, as such, is considered a valuable crime deterrent
and an important extension of the Redlands Police Depart-
ment capability;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS;
That the City Manager be directed to express to the
Board of Supervisors of the County of San Bernardino the
interest of the city of Redlands in participating with
the county and other cities in the county in applying for
a Federal Grant to provide for a regional Law Enforcement
Helicopter Patrol for the San Bernardino County area.
ADOPTED, SIGNED AND APPROVED this 17th day of April
1973 .
