HomeMy WebLinkAbout4911_CCv0001.pdf RESOLUTION NO. 4911 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS APPROVING THE APPLICATION FOR HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE GRANT PROGRAM NON-DISCRETIONARY FUNDS WHEREAS, the California Integrated Waste Management Board established the Household Hazardous Waste Grant Program upon enactment of Assembly Bill (AB) 2448 Statutes of 1987 (Chapter 1315) ; and WHEREAS, the purpose of the program is to award grants to cities, counties, and local agencies with responsibility for waste management for local programs that help prevent the disposal of household hazardous waste at solid waste landfills; and WHEREAS, a non-discretionary grant is an award to reimburse a jurisdiction for household hazardous waste programs that were implemented in the fiscal year prior to the grant application period; and WHEREAS, the City of Redlands is eligible for Household Hazardous Waste Non-Discretionary Grant funds in accordance with Public Resource Code Section 46400 which states applicant eligibility is limited to cities, counties, and local agencies responsible for waste management; and WHEREAS, AB 2448 also established the account to be used, in part, to provide funding for the Household Hazardous Waste Grant Program, and the State Board of Equalization collects and deposits into the account an annual fee from every solid waste operator required to have a solid waste facility permit in California; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Redlands: 1. Approves the filing of an application for Household Hazardous Waste Grant Program Non-Discretionary Funds; and 2 . Authorizes City of Redlands Fire Chief Mel Enslow to execute all necessary applications, contracts, agreements and amendments to carry out the purposes specified in the Household Hazardous Waste Non- Discretionary Grant application.
