A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS
AUTHORIZING APPLICATION FOR FEDERAL GRANT MONIES FOR
EQUIPMENT FOR THE JOSLYN SENIOR CENTER IMPROVEMENT PROJECT
WHEREAS, the people of the United States have enacted the
Older Americans Act of 1965 as amended which provided funds for
a focal point in communities for development and delivery of
services designed primarily for older persons for the purposes of
acquiring, altering or renovating existing facilities to serve as
multi-purpose senior centers, and
WHEREAS, the California Department of Aging has been designated
the responsibility for the administration of the program within the
State of California, setting up necessary procedures governing ap-
plication by local agencies under the program; and
WHEREAS, said procedures established. by State of California
require the governing body to make a resolution which gives the
public agency permission to apply for Title 3 funds and to execute
the contract, and
WHEREAS, said application contains assurances that the applicant
must comply with; and
WHEREAS , the City of Redlands assures to be responsible for all
maintenance and operation costs that may result from the expenditures
of grant funds, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council hereby.
1 . Approves the filing of the application for special
programs for Aging, Title V- Multipurpose Senior Centers;
2. Certifies that said agency understands the assurances
in the application; and
. Certifies that said agency has or will have sufficient
funds to operate and maintain the project; and
4 . Appoints the Director of the Joslyn Senior Center,
Frank Maloney, as agent of the City to conduct all
negotiations, execute and submit all documents in-
cluding but not limited to agreement, amendments ,
payment requests and so forth which may be necessary
for the completion of the aforementioned project.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of
Redlands authorizes Robert H. Mitchell, Cite Manager, to sign such
a grant application for the City.
ADOPTED, SIGNED AND APPROVED this 2nd day of May, 1978.
