A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS APPROVING
THE APPLICATION FOR GRANT FUNDS TO PRESERVE AND PROMOTE AMERICA'S
HERITAGE AND CULTURAL ASSETS UNDER THE PRESERVE AMERICA HISTORIC
PRESERVATION GRANT FUND PROGRAM
WHEREAS, Preserve America is a White House initiative developed in cooperation with
the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation, the U.S. Department of the Interior and the U.S.
Department of Commerce; and
WHEREAS, the goals of this initiative include a greater shared knowledge about our
Nation's past, strengthened regional identities and local pride, increased local participation in
preserving the country's irreplaceable cultural and natural heritage assets, and support for the
economic vitality of communities; and
WHEREAS, the City of Redlands received its official designation as a Preserve America
community on February 23, 2006, from the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation; and
WHEREAS, the City of Redlands desires to apply for grant funds under the Preserve
America grants program administered by the Department of Interior to develop a Master Plan of
Heritage Park; and
WHEREAS, said procedures established by the Department of Interior require the
Applicant's Governing Body to certify by resolution the approval of application, willingness to
accept Preserve America Funding if awarded and demonstrating commitment to the project.
NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Redlands
1. Approves the filing of an application for grant funds under the Preserve America
Historic Preservation Grant Fund Program; and
2. Certifies that the Applicant has or will have sufficient funds to operate and
maintain project; and
3. Certifies that the Applicant has reviewed, understands, and agrees to the General
Provisions contained in the Preserve America Grant Manual; and
4. Appoints the Public Works Director as agent to conduct all negotiations, execute
and submit all documents including, but not limited to applications, agreements, payment
requests and so on, which may be necessary for the completion of the Project.
ADOPTED, SIGNED AND APPROVED this 16th day of May, 2006.
