A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS
AUTHORIZING SUBMISSION OF A GRANT APPLICATION
TO THE CALIFORNIA INTEGRATED WASTE MANAGEMENT BOARD
FOR RUBBERIZED ASPHALT PAVING
WHEREAS,grant funds are available from the California Integrated Waste Management Board
for rubberized asphalt paving projects; and
WHEREAS, the City of Redlands would benefit from substituting rubberized asphalt paving
for standard paving due to increased durability of the paving surface; and
WHEREAS, the use of rubberized asphalt provides opportunities to divert waste tires from
landfill disposal,prevent illegal tire dumping and promotes markets for recycled-content waste tire;and
WHEREAS,if awarded a grant,the City of Redlands will enter into an agreement with the State
of California for development of a rubberized asphalt paving project;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT:
I. The City Council of the City of Redlands authorizes submission of an
application to the California Integrated Waste Management Board for an SB
1346 Rubberized Asphalt Concrete Grant. The Mayor or any member of the
City Council of the City of Redlands is hereby authorized and empowered to
execute in the name of the City of Redlands all necessary contracts,agreements
and amendments hereto for the purpose of securing grant funds.
2. The City Council of the City of Redlands authorizes and empowers the Public
Works Director in the name of the City of Redlands to execute all necessary
applications, payment requests, progress reports, and final reports for the
purposes of securing grant funds and to implement and carry out the purposes
specified in the grant application.
