A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS
AUTHORIZING SUBMISSION OF A GRANT APPLICATION TO THE SOUTH COAST
AIR QUALITY MANAGEMENT DISTRICT FOR A TREE PARTNERSHIP GRANT
WHEREAS, grant funds are available from the South Coast Air Quality Management
District to fund projects that increase the benefits trees provide in reducing toxic air pollutants
along with greenhouse gases; and
WHEREAS, the City of Redlands is in a unique position to preserve its citrus heritage
and promote the sustainability of the last remaining Iocal packinghouse; and
WHEREAS, the City of Redlands has been advancing its goal of increasing the amount
of trees present in the City to add to reduce the City's greenhouse gas emissions in conformance
with the City Council adopted U.S. Mayor's Climate Protection Agreement; and
WHEREAS, the successful implementation of a grant project to replant citrus trees in
City-owned citrus groves advance the goals of the City to maintain and improve the duality of its
historically significant citrus groves;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF REDLANDS AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The City Council of the City of Redlands authorizes submission of an
application to the South Coast Air Quality Management District for a Tree Partnership grant.
Section 2. The City Council of the City of Redlands authorizes and empowers the
Mayor, or any member of the City Council, to execute in the name of the City of Redlands all
necessary applications, contracts, agreements and amendments for the purpose of securing grant
funds; and the Quality of Life Department Director, or his designee, to review, prepare and
authorize in the name of the City of Redlands all necessary payment requests, progress reports,
and final reports to implement and carry out the purposes specified in the grant application.
