A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS
APPROVING APPLICATION FOR GRANT FUNDS UNDER THE SPECIAL
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AND ADJUSTMENT ASSISTANCE PROGRAM
WHEREAS, the Legislature of the United States has enacted
Title IX, a 1974 amendment to the Public works and Economic
Development Act; and
WHEREAS, the program is administered by the United States
Department of Commerce, Economic Development Administration who
is authorized to assist States and local areas in redressing
actual or threatened economic adjustment problems; and
WHEREAS, the City of Redlands is located in a region threatened
by severe changes in economic conditions due to the loss of a major
job source; and
WHEREAS, grant funds are available to help prepare a strategy
for countering economic adjustment problems and the implementation
of projects to help carry out the strategy;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council hereby:
1) Approves the filing of an application for funding under
the Special Economic Development and Adjustment Assistance
Program, Title IX, 1974 Public Works and Economic Develop-
ment Act.
2) Certifies that said agency understands the intent of the
program.
3) Certifies that said agency has or will have sufficient funds
to operate and maintain the projects funded under this pro-
gram; and
4) Appoints W. C . Schindler, Community Development Director,
as the Agent of the City of Redlands to conduct all
negotiations, execute and submit all documents including
but not limited to, applications, agreements , amendments,
payment requests, and so on which may be necessary for
the completion of the aforementioned projects.
ADOPTED, SIGNED AND APPROVED this 6th day of December, 1977.
