A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS
DENOUNCING INTOLERANCE AND ENCOURAGING RESPECT,
INCLUSIVITY, COMPASSION AND HOSPITALITY
WHEREAS, the City of Redlands has a diverse community and welcomes people of many
backgrounds in the belief that a varied population leads to a more vibrant community through
inclusion, justice, and love; and
WHEREAS, all people are created equal and there is no room for any form of intolerance in
our society; and
WHEREAS, the City of Redlands also acknowledges the challenges marginalized members of
our society have historically faced and continue to face; and
WHEREAS, the City of Redlands asserts that all people deserve respect, are valuable
contributors to our society, and that residents should never have to fear for their safety due to a
difference of opinion or lifestyle as it is contrary to the principles, foundations, and values of our
nation; and
WHEREAS, city leaders acknowledge that Redlands stands for generosity, community,
diversity, and respects the rights of all to live in peace, equality, and liberty.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
REDLANDS AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Denounces acts of hate, intolerance, and bigotry in all its forms.
Section 2. Calls upon Redlands residents to join in demonstrating respect, inclusivity,
compassion, and hospitality to friends and strangers alike.
