A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS
TO SUPPORT H.R. 3389, THE BILLBOARD CONTROL ACT OF 1989
WHEREAS, H.R. 3389, the Billboard Control Act of 1989 was
introduced by Congressman John Lewis of Georgia on October 2, 1989;
WHEREAS, H.R. 3389, returns to states and local governments
the right to regulate existing billboards under their own land use
laws;
WHEREAS, H.R. 3389 , places a moratorium on new billboard
construction along interstates and federal primary aide highways;
WHEREAS, H.R. 3389, shall find a State to be in non-
compliance if vegetation, located on any land on which the State
owns a right-of-way, is allowed to be cut, altered, or removed for
the purpose of improving the visibility of any outdoor advertising
sign, display, or device; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the
City of Redlands does hereby support H.R. 3389 ;
FURTHER, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of
Redlands is working with the members of the Corridor Beautification
Committee to improve the I-10 Corridor.
