A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS
PROVIDING FOR APPROVAL OF THE IMPLEMENTATION OF A
HAZARD MITIGATION GRANT RECENTLY ACCEPTED BY THE
REDLANDS FIRE DEPARTMENT FROM THE STATE OFFICE OF
EMERGENCY SERVICES, THROUGH DEVELOPMENT OF A
DEMONSTRATION GARDEN AT FORD PARK IN REDLANDS,
CALIFORNIA
WHEREAS, the Fire Department of the City of Redlands, the agency responsible for the
administration of fire prevention techniques and procedures, as well as public education of these
preventive measures, will receive a Hazard Mitigation Grant from the California State Office of
Emergency Services specifically for the development of a Demonstration Garden at a City-owned
location; and
WHEREAS, the impending grant funding necessitates establishment of location and
preparation for the Garden in a timely manner; and
WHEREAS,the Fire Department has received a recommendation from the City of Redlands
Parks Commission to utilize a specified area of Ford Park, located on Parkford Drive just off of
Redlands Blvd, for this Demonstration Garden; and
WHEREAS, Ford Park is approximately 19.8 acres of open space, which contains a City
well site and has easy and safe access,where a Demonstration Garden would enhance the use of the
property, as well as provide for public inspection of native and other vegetation with varying degrees
of usefulness and effectiveness in prevention of wildland fires.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF REDLANDS approves the acceptance of the Hazard Mitigation Grant for the
Demonstration Garden and its development at Ford Park in Redlands, California.
ADOPTED,SIGNED AND APPROVED this 21st day of January 1997.
