City of Redlands } # # WHEN RECORDED, RETURN R AN', City Clerk City of Redlands Rost Office Box 3005 Redlands, California, 92373 RESOLUTION NO. 4720 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS DESIGNATING THE LA VERNE STREET NEIGHBORHOOD AS HISTORIC AND SCENIC DISTRICT NO. 7 WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 1954 establishes rules and regula- tions governing the designation, preservation and perpetuation of historical and scenic properties; and WHEREAS, the Historic and. Scenic Preservation Commission has held a duly advertised public hearing to consider designating the following as a historic and scenic district: Generally, those properties on both sides of the street.. from 404 to 457 La Verne Street, including the vacant lot at 457 La Verne Street.. WHEREAS, the Historic and Scenic Preservation Commission has no {inated the aboverentioned properties as a historic and scenic district in accordance with procedures established in Ordinance No. 1954; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the Cite of Redlands has held a duly advertised public hearing to consider the recommendation n of the Historic and Scenic Preservation Commission; and WHEREAS, a strong majority of the property owners have expressed approval of the district concept; and WHEREAS, the City Council has found that the proposed district is a geographically definable area possessing a concentration of historic and scenic properties which contribute to each other and are unified aesthetically by their physical development; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Redlands as follows: 1. The fallowing properties are hereby designated as a historic and scenic district: Generally, those properties on both sides of the street fora 404 to 457 La Verne Street, including the vacant lot at 457 La Verne Street. See Exhibit "A" for details. This area is legally described as follows. Lots 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 28, 29, 30, 31, 32, 33, 34, 355, 36, 37, 38; the easterly 94 feet of lots 26 and 7 ; and the southerly 50 feet of lots 39 and 40 of Block E of the Altadena Tract in the City of Redlands, County of San Bernardino, State of California, as per map recorded in Map Book 8, Page 75, in the Office of the Recorder of said County. 2. The buildings on these properties shall not be altered on the exterior, moved, demolished, subdivided, or other wise permanently changed on the exterior until a Certificate of Appropriateness has been secured. The properties shall not be subdivided without. a Certificate of Appropriateness. New construction will also require a Certificate of Appropriateness. 3. Scenic elements to be protected per Ordinance No. 1954: a. All cut stone curbs. b. All palm, crepe myrtle, and coast lave oak trees in the parkway. 4. All provisions of Ordinance No. 1954, and any amendments thereto, are in effect now and in the perpetual future, unless this District is abolished by a future City Council action. 5 . Notices for all public meetings to consider applications for Certificates of Appropriateness or Certificates of Hardship shall be seat to a designated representative of the neighborhood. 6. The City Clerk of the City of Redlands is hereby directed to cause a certified copy of this Resolution to be recorded with the County Recorder, County of San Bernardino. ADOPTED, SIGNED AND APPROVED this 4th day of December, 1990.
