Redlands, California 92373 RESOLUTION NO. 4269 A RESOLUTION OF TUE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS DESIGNATING THE CAJON AND FOURTH STREET NEIGHBORHOOD AS HISTORIC ANIS SCENIC DISTRICT NO. 2 WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 1954 establishes rules and regulations governing the designation, preservation and perpetuation of historical and scenic properties; and WHEREAS, the Historic and Scenic: Preservation Commission has heli; a duly advertised public hearing to consider designating the following as a historic anca scenic district: Generally, those properties on Cajon Street. and Fourth Street between Fern Avenue and Cypress Avenue. Also, the adjacent pros} rties on Fern Avenue, Forte Place, and Cypress Avenue. See F - hib SD No. 41" for details. WHEREAS, the Historic and Scenic Preservation C c m ission has recommended the above Tf:entioned properties ies as a historic and scenic district in accordance with procedures established in Ordnance o. 1954; area WHEREAS, the City council of the City of Redlands had held a duly advertised public hearing to consider the recommendation of the Historic ind Scenic Preservation Cori {ission, and � ?EREAS, a strong majority of the property owners have either expressed approval of the district concept or have not objected; and WHEREAS, the Cita Council has found that the proposed dis- trict is a geographically definable area possessing a concen- tration of historic and scenic properties which contribute to each other and are unified aesthetically by their physical development. JI 8 I NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Redlands as follows: The following property s hereby designated an historic and scenic district: Generally, those properties on Cajon Street and Fourth Street between Fern Avenue and Cypress Avenue. Also, the adjacent properties on Fern Avenue, home Placer and Cypress Avenue. See Ex- hibit "IVSD No. 2" for details. 2 . The buildings on this property shall not be altered on the exterior moved, demolished, or otherwise permanently changed on the exterior until a Certi- ficate of Appropriateness has been secured. The properties shall not be subdivided without a Certi- ficate of Appropriateness. I-,;ew construction will also require a Certificate of Appropriateness. 3 . Scenic elements to be protected per Ordinance No. 19544 . All out stone curbs b. Street light stan ards 4 . All -provisions of Ordinance Ngo. 1954 , and any amend uento thereto, ars in effect now and in the perp=etual future, unless this District is abolished by a future City Council action. 5 . IJ!otices for all public: meetings L-0 consider applications for Certificates of Appropriateness or Certificates of Hardship s pall be sent to two designated representatives of the neighborhood. . The City Council encourages the Engineering Depart- ment and the various utility companies to consider Fourth Street and/or the alley between Cajon and Fourth Streets for a .future underground utility district(s). 7 .
