RESOLUTION NO. 7458
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS DESIGNATING
721 CHESTNUT AVENUE AS A HISTORIC PROPERTY (HISTORIC AND SCENIC
RESOURCE NO. 120)
WHEREAS, Chapter 2.62 of the Redlands Municipal Code establishes rules and regulations
governing the designation, preservation and perpetuation of historic and scenic properties; and
WHEREAS, the Historic and Scenic Preservation Commission has held a duly noticed
public hearing to consider the designation of the following as a historic property: 721 Chestnut
Avenue, Redlands, California, 92373 (County of San Bernardino Assessor's Parcel No. 0175-072-
06); and
WHEREAS, the Historic and Scenic Preservation Commission has nominated the above-
mentioned property as a historic property in accordance with procedures established in Chapter 2.62
of the Redlands Municipal Code; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Redlands has held a duly noticed public hearing
to consider the reconnmendation of the Historic and Scenic Preservation Coimnission;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Redlands as
follows:
Section 1. The following property owned by Wesley and Elizabeth Bernardini is hereby
designated as a historic property: 721 Chestnut Avenue, Redlands, California, 92373 (County of
San Bernardino Assessor's Parcel No. 0175-072-06) in accordance with the provisions of Section
2.62.170 of the Redlands Municipal Code in that the property is a notable work of a master builder
whose individual work has significantly influenced the development of the city, and is a particularly
good example of the craftsman style.
Section 2. The residence at 721 Chestnut Avenue shall be officially known as the "W.
E. Grigsby Home."
Section 3. Neither the structure on the property nor the property, as those historic
elements exist on the effective date of this resolution, shall be altered on the exterior, moved,
demolished, subdivided, or otherwise permanently changed, unless a Certificate of Appropriateness
or Certificate of Hardship has been first secured from the City of Redlands.
Section 4. The City Clerk of the City of Redlands is hereby directed to cause a certified
copy of this Resolution to be recorded with the County Recorder, County of San Bernardino.
Section 5. The City Council hereby determines that the approval of this Resolution is
exempt from review under the California Environmental Quality Act ("CEQA') pursuant to section
15061(b)(3) of the state's CEQA Guidelines because it can be seen with certainty that there is no
possibility that approval of this Resolution may have a significant impact on the environment.
