HomeMy WebLinkAbout5796_CCv0001.pdf RESOLUTION NO. 5796 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL AMENDING AN HISTORICAL PRESERVE OF CITRUS AND RESCINDING RESOLUTION NO. 5505 WHEREAS, the City Council created the Citrus Preservation Commission to recommend policies for the acquisition, improvement, preservation and retention of citrus properties within the City, and WHEREAS, the Citrus Preservation Commission has been given the authority to oversee and coordinate the marketing of crops produced from the City's citrus groves; and WHEREAS, the voters of Redlands passed Measure "O" in November 1987 for the acquisition of lands, including citrus groves; and WHEREAS, the Citrus Preservation Commission finds that as a result of storm drain improvements. Dearborn extension and sports park that the Granite Grove should be deleted from the list of historical preserve of citrus groves; and WHEREAS, the Citrus Preservation Commission wholeheartedly supports this resolution; and WHEREAS, Redlands has historically been famous for its citrus culture and beautiful groves; and WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to retain as an "Historical Preserve of Citrus," an historically representative portion of the citrus groves, approximately 83 acres, is as follows: 24 acres of the Prospect Park Grove; 10 acres of the Judson Grove; 13 acres of the Texas Grove; 16.7 acres of the Nevada/Palmetto Grove; 10 acres of the Fifth Avenue Grove; 5 acres of the Californial1-10 Grove; 3 acres of the Clive Avenue Grove; and 1 acre of the Barton Citrus Grove; NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the above-names sites will be known as Historical Preserve Areas: and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that grove receipts will support these citrus preserves as may be necessary and available.
