,,MEREAS, under the provisions of Section 23 of he unix-ed

Administration is authorized to provide financial assistance to
local public mousing agencies in providing low-rent housing y
leasing dwelling units in existing privatelly-ow ed structures ,,
and
WHEREAS, said Section 23 provides that the provisions
thereof shall not apply to any locality unless the governing
body of the locality has by resolution approved the application
of such provisions to suc. locality;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCTLL AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1 : That the application of the provisions of Sectio?
23 of the United States Housing pct= of 1937, as amended, to the
City of Redlands, State of California, is approved .
Section 2: The Cite Clergy shall certify- to the adoption of
this resolution.

Gentlemen:
The Redlands Housing Commission at its January 21, 1971, meeting
unanimously passed a motion that the City Council of Redlands
be requested to pass a resolution approving application of the
provisions of Section 23 of the United States Act of 1937 , as
amended by Housing and Urban Development Act of 1965, in the
City of Redlands.
Enclosed is a proposed resolution based on Resolution No. 6700
passed by the City of Ontario, California on April 22, 1969.
Also enclosed is a paper explaining in some detail, the Section
23 rent subsidy program.
The Housing Commission would appreciate having this item placed
on the agenda of the next City Council meeting. We will have
representatives at the council meeting to make a presentation
expiaining the program and to answer questions you may have.
