HomeMy WebLinkAbout5815_CCv0001.pdf RESOLUTION 5815 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS ADOPTING PROVISIONS PERTAINING TO THE IMPLEMENTATION OF MEASURE "U" RECITALS WHEREAS, on November 4, 1997 the voters of Redlands approved Measure "U," an initiative Ordinance of the people of Redlands establishing principals of managed development; and WHEREAS, the results of the election were certified on December 2, 1997 and the Measure took effect on December 12, 1997; and WHEREAS, the City Council has held numerous workshops pertaining to the implementation of Measure "U" and specifically a workshop was held by the Planning Commission on September 261h and by the City Council on October 3d, 2000 that were open to the public; and WHEREAS, the City Council has reviewed, discussed and provided direction on the implementation of Measure "U;" NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AND FOUND BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The above mentioned recitals are true and correct. Section 2. The City Council has reviewed and considered issues pertaining to the implementation of Measure "U" and implements the following measures: (A) That in implementing policy 4.40q, pertaining to planning for a housing mix, that the City utilize the definitions as identified by the State Department of Finance to establish what constitutes single family and multifamily except that condominiums shall also be included in the single family category and that group homes not be counted within the 75%-25% housing mix. (B) That staff work with a joint City Council/Planning Commission Committee to examine all vacant properties and associated land use designations and recommend amendments to the General Plan so that the land use designations of the General Plan will provide for a residential housing mix of 75%single family to 25% multifamily upon buildout. (C) That the joint City Council/Planning Commission Committee not only ensure for a residential housing mix of 75% single family to 25% multifamily upon buildout but also examine the related issues of providing a variety of housing types, urban sprawl, and open space.
