HomeMy WebLinkAbout2873_CCv0001.pdf RESOLUTION NO. 2873 A RESOLUTION OF THE CTTY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS, EX- PRESSING REgUEST AND ASSURANCES FOR FLOOD AND MUDSLTDE INSURANCE UNDER NATIONAL FLOOD INSURANCE PROGRAM-11 WHEREAS , portions of the City of Redlands are subject to recurrent flooding and erosion endangering private properties within these areas; and WHEREAS , there is a recognized public need for flood and mudslide insurance; and WHEREAS , the National Flood insurance Act, P. L. 90-443 and the Mudslide Amendment to it, P. L. 91-152 can provide such in- surance to serve this public need; and WHEREAS , Sections 1910 . 2 and 1910 . 3 of the National Flood Insurance Program regulations require expression of interest and assurances ; and WHEREAS , the City of Redlands has authority granted by California Government Code, Title 7 , Chapters 3 and 4, to adopt land use and control measures as required by the Flood insurance Program; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Redlands that it: (1) is most desirous and in need of participating in and receiving the benefits of National Flood insurance Program. (2) Will recognize and duly evaluate flood hazards in all official actions relating to land use in the flood plain areas having special hazards . (3) will net by December 31, 1971, and maintain in force for areas having special flood hazards , adequate land use and control measures with effective enforcement provisions consistent with criteria sct forth in Sub- part B of Section 1910 of the National Flood Tnsurance Program regulations . (4) Will assist the National Flood Tnsurance Program Ad- ministrator, at his request, in delineating the limits of the flood plain having special floof hazard on avail- able local maps of sufficient scale to idemify the location of building sites . (5) Herebyadopts a map, attached as Enclosure 1, entitled I - "City of Redlands, Sho,�;inq Areas Recommended as Eligible for Federal, Flood Tnsurance Program. " (6) After flood insurance is made avail-able, will furnish representatives of appropriate Federal or State agencies or of the National Fiood Insurers Association informa- tion, as requested, concerning new or substantially im- proved structures within the area of special flood hazard. (7) Will cooperate with Federal, State and local agencies � which undertake to study, survey, map and identify _; y flood-prone areas as well as cooperation with neighbor- ing jurisdictions with respect to adjoining flood plains in order to prevent aggravation of the flooding problem. (8) Will appoint or designate an agency or official with the responsibility, authority and means to implement the co=aitment- made in this Resolution.
