A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS
SUPPORTING COUNCILMEMBER JOHN FREEDMAN FOR A POSITION ON
THE BOARD OF THE LOCAL AGENCY FORMATION COMMISSION FOR
THE COUNTY OF SAN BERNARDINO
WHEREAS, the Local Agency Formation Commission for the County of San Bernardino
is responsible for approving municipal and district boundaries which discourage urban sprawl and
encourage ordinarily govemmental boundaries based upon local circumstances and conditions;and
WHEREAS, the Commission members should consist of two City members selected by the
City Selection Committee,two County Supervisors,two representatives of special districts and one
public member; and
WHEREAS, the Commission's City Selection Committee is established by the California
Government Code for the purpose of selecting representatives of the cities within each county to
serve on the LAFCO Board; and
WHEREAS,the City of Redlands is representative of many cities in urbanized areas of San
Bernardino County which has spheres of influence; and
WHEREAS, Councilmember Freedman has extensive experience in the City and other
governmental agencies addressing issues of urban growth, sprawl, and those matters within the
purview of the Local Agency Formation Commission;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
REDLANDS AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The City Council of the City of Redlands does hereby support and endorse
Councilmember John Freedman's effort to serve as a City member for the Local Agency Formation
Commission of the County of San Bernardino.
