A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS, CALIFORNIA,
RATIFYING EXISTENCE OF A LOCAL EMERGENCY
WHEREAS, Chapter 2.52.100 of the Redlands Municipal Code empowers the Emergency
Services Director of the City of Redlands to proclaim the existence or threatened existence of a local
emergency when the City is affected or likely to be affected by a public calamity and the City
Council is not in session, subject to ratification by the City Council within seven days; and
WHEREAS, conditions of extreme peril to the safety of persons and property have arisen
within this City, caused by erosion of storm drain channels adjacent to roadways, the threatened
collapse of roof structures due to intense rains and the accumulation of debris and downed power
lines within roadways at multiple locations, at or about 9:00 a.m. on the 20th day of October 2004,
at which time the City Council of the City of Redlands was not in session; and
WHEREAS, the City Council does hereby find that the aforesaid conditions of extreme peril
did warrant and necessitate the proclamation of the existence of a local emergency; and
WHEREAS, the Emergency Services Director of the City of Redlands did proclaim the
existence of a local emergency within said City on the 20th day of October 2004;
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY PROCLAIMED AND ORDERED that the
proclamation of a local emergency by the Emergency Services Director of the City of Redlands is
hereby ratified, and that said local emergency shall be deemed to continue to exist until its
termination is proclaimed by the City Council of the City of Redlands.
ADOPTED by the City Council and signed by the Mayor and attested to by the Deputy City
Clerk this 27th day of October, 2004.
