A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL ESTABLISHING AN HISTORICAL
PRESERVE OF CITRUS AND RESCINDING RESOLUTION 4698
WHEREAS, the voters of Redlands passed Measure "O" in November 1987 for the
acquisition of lands including citrus groves; and
WHEREAS, the Open Space Committee and the Parks Commission
wholeheartedly support this resolution; and
WHEREAS, Redlands has historically been famous for its citrus culture and
beautiful groves and the proliferation of housing tracts removed most of Redlands orange
groves; and
WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to retain as an "Historical Preserve of Citrus"
an historically representative portion of the citrus on the San Bernardino Avenue/Judson
Street Grove, San Bernardino Avenue/Texas Street Grove, Prospect Park Grove, Fifth
Avenue Grove, Texas and Webster Grove, Nevada/Palmetto Grove, 1-10 & California
Grove, and the Olive Avenue Grove.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the above named sites will be known
as Historical Preserve Areas; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that these citrus preserves will be supported by
grove receipts as may be necessary and available.
ADOPTED, SIGNED AND APPROVED this 20th day of April, 1993.
