HomeMy WebLinkAbout4993_CCv0001.pdf RESOLUTION NO. 4993 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL ESTABLISHING AN HISTORICAL PRESERVE OF CITRUS AND RESCINDING RESOLUTION 4959 WHEREAS,the voters of Redlands passed Measure "O" in November 1987 for the acquisition of lands including citrus groves; and WHEREAS, the Open Space Committee and the Parks Commission wholeheartedly support this resolution; and WHEREAS, Redlands has historically been famous for its citrus culture and beautiful groves and the proliferation of housing tracts removed most of Redlands orange groves; and WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to retain as an "Historical Preserve of Citrus" an historically representative portion of the citrus groves as follows: 24 acres of the Prospect Park Grove; 6 acres of Judson Grove; 13 acres of San Bernardino/Texas Street Grove; 16.7 acres of Palmetto/Nevada Grove; 10 acres of Fifth Avenue Grove; 5 acres of 1-10/California Grove; and 3 acres of Olive Avenue Grove. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the above named sites will be known as Historical Preserve Areas; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that these citrus preserves will be supported by grove receipts as may be necessary and available.
