HomeMy WebLinkAbout3785_CCv0001.pdf RESOLUTION NO. 3785 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS OPPOSING THE PROPOSED MENTONE DAM The City Council of the City of Redlands resolves as follows : WHEREAS, the City of Redlands supplies water to over 50 ,000 inhabitants in the vicinity of the proposed Mentone Dam; and WHEREAS, one of our sources of water is the ground water underlying the proposed Mentone Dam; and WHEREAS, the proposed Mentone Dam is in the immediate area of the San Andreas Fault; and WHEREAS, the proposed Mentone Dam is submitted solely for the purposes of flood control; and WHEREAS, a major water resource may be damaged by the pro- posed Mentone Dam. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Redlands requests projects that are multipurpose water conservation, power conservation and flood control. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City of Redlands has grave doubts about the funding of such a project with such limited and seldom used benefits. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City of Redlands does not want the proposed Mentone Dam built. ADOPTED, SIGNED AND APPROVED this 6th day of October, 1981.
