HomeMy WebLinkAbout4080_CCv0001.pdf RESOLUTION NO. 4080 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS , CALIFORNIA, CALLING AND GIVING NOTICE OF THE HOLDING OF A GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION AND REQUESTING THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF THE COUNTY OF SAN BER2NARDIN0 TO CONSOLIDATE SAID ELECTION WITH THE SCHOOL DISTRICT ELECTION TO BE HELD ON TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 5 , 1985 WHEREAS, under the provisions of the laws relating to general law cities in the State of California, a general municipal election may be held on Tuesday, November 5 , 1985 , for the election of three members of the City Council of said City for the full term of four years ; and WHEREAS, the City Council of said City also desires to submit to the qualified electors of said City at said election the question hereinafter set forth relating to the continued assessment of a special tax to continue funding the Paramedic Program within the City; and WHEREAS , it is desirable that said general municipal election be consolidated with the school district election to be held on the same date , that -within said City the precincts , polling places , and election officers of the two elections be the same , that the Registrar of Voters of the County of San Bernardino canvass the returns of the general municipal election, and that said school district election and general municipal election be held in all respects as if there were only one election; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS does hereby resolve , determine , and order as follows : SECTION 1. That pursuant to the requirements of the laws of the State of California relating to general law cities within said State , there shall be, and there is hereby called and ordered, held in the City of Redlands , California, on Tuesday, November 5 , 1985 , a regular municipal election of the qualified electors of said City for the pur- pose of electing three Members of the City Council of said City for the full term of four years . SECTION 2 . That said City Council , pursuant to its right and authority so to do, does hereby determine that there shall be and there is hereby ordered submitted to the qualified electors of said City at said regular general municipal election the following question , to wit : Shall Ordinance No. 1900 of the City of Redlands , California, continuing the levy YES MEASURE of a special tax for continued paramedic P service subject to the specified limitations be approved, and shall a corresponding adjustment in the City' s appropriations NO limit also be approved? A cross (+) placed in the voting square after the word "YES" in the manner hereinbefore provided shall be counted in favor of the adoption of the question. A cross (+) placed in the voting square after the word "NO" in the manner hereinbefore provided shall be counted against the adoption of the question. The question shall be adopted only upon affirmative vote of at least 2/3 of the votes cast upon the question. SECTION 3 . That the deadline date of August 15 , 1985 , at 5 :00 P.M. is hereby established for receipt of written arguments for or against the question. Written arguments may be submitted by members of this City Council , any qualified City elector, or bona fide association of voters , or any combination thereof. Written arguments shall not exceed 300 words in length and shall, be filed with tete Cite_ Clergy of the City of Redlands . SECTION 4 . That the ballots to be used at said election shall be , both as to form and matter contained herein , such as may be required by law to use thereat. SECTION 5 . That the City Clerk of the City of Redlands is hereby authorized, instructed and directed to procure and furnish any and all official ballots , notices , printed matter and all supplies , equipment and paraphernalia that my be necessary in order to properly and lawfully conduct said election. SECTION 6 . That the polls for said election shall be open at 7 :00 A.M. of the day of said election and shall remain open continuously from said time until 8 :00 P .M. of the same day when said polls shall be closed, except as provided in Section 14301 of the Elections Code of the State of California. SECTION 7 . That in all particulars not recited in this Resolution, said election shall be held and conducted as provided by law for holding municipal elections in said City. SECTION 8 . That notice of the time and holding of said election is hereby given and the City Clerk is hereby authorized, instructed , and directed to give such further or additional notice of said election, in time , form, and manner as required by law. SECTION 9 . That pursuant to the requirements of Section 23302 of the Elections Code, the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Bernardino is hereby requested to consent and agree to the consolidation of said general municipal election with the school district election on Tuesday, November 5 , 1985 . That said Registrar of Voters is hereby authorized to canvass the returns of said general municipal election which is hereby requested to be consolidated with said school district election and said election shall be held in all respects as if there were only one election and only one form of ballot shall be used. SECTION 11 . That said Board of Supervisors is hereby requested to issue instructions to the Registrar of Voters to take any and all steps necessary for the holding of said consolidated election. SECTION 12 . That the City of Redlands recognizes that additional costs will be incurred by the County by reason of this consolidation and agrees to reimburse the County for any such costs . SECTION 13 . That the City Clerk of the City of Redlands is hereby directed to file a certified copy of this Resolution with the Board of Supervisors and the Registrar of Voters of the County of San Bernardino.
