HomeMy WebLinkAbout4674_CCv0001.pdf RESOLUTION NO. 4674 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS RECITING THE FACT OF THE SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD ON JUNE 5, 1990, DECLARING THE RESULTS AND SUCH OTHER MATTERS AS PROVIDED BY LAW WHEREAS, a Special Municipal Election was held and conducted in the City of Redlands on Tuesday, June 5 , 1990 , as required by law; and WHEREAS, notice of the election was given in time, form and manner as provided by law; that voting precincts were properly established; that election officers were appointed and that in all respects the election was held and conducted and the votes were cast, received and canvassed and the returns made and declared in time, form and manner as required by the provisions of the California Elections Code for the holding of elections in general law cities; and WHEREAS, pursuant to City Council action approved March 13, 1990, the County Registrar of Voters canvassed the returns of the election and has certified the results to this City Council , the results are received, attached and made a part hereof as "Exhibit A." NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS DOES RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. That the whole number of votes cast in the City was 12 ,898. SECTION 2. That the measure voted upon at the election was as follows: MEASURE M Shall Ordinance No. 2111 be adopted to levy a utility users tax on the citizens of Redlands in an amount not to exceed two and one-half percent (2-1/2%) , and with exemptions for seniors and low income persons, to: increase personnel in the Police and Fire Departments, maintain competitive salaries, based upon a survey of surrounding communities, to attract and retain highly qualified public safety personnel; establish an anti-gang/drug task force, enhance its D.A.R. E. program, and purchase earthquake and disaster preparedness equipment; expand paramedic services; fund other emergency and public safety related services; and shall the City's appropriation limit be increased by the amount of revenue derived from the paid tax? I SECTION 3 . That the number of votes given at each precinct and the number of votes given in the City to each of the persons named above for the respective offices for which the persons were candi- dates and for and against the measures were as listed in Exhibit "A" attached. SECTION 4. That as a result of the election, at least two- thirds of the voters voting on Measure M relating to the utility users tax did not vote in favor of it, and that the measure was not carried. SECTION 5 . The City Clerk shall enter on the records of the City Council of the City of Redlands, a statement of the results of the election showing: the whole number of votes cast in the City, the measure voted upon, and the number of votes given at each precinct for and against each measure.
