A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS
COMMEMORATIVELY NAMING THE DINING ROOM AT THE REDLANDS
COMMUNITY SENIOR CENTER THE "MARY REYES SANCHEZ DINING
ROOM."
WHEREAS, the Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission is requesting the
commemorative naming of the Redlands Community Senior Center dining room as the "Mary Reyes
Sanchez Dining Room" in honor of Mary Reyes Sanchez who has made significant contributions to
the Redlands community as described in Exhibit "A"; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Redlands adopted Resolution No. 7711 on
February 21, 2017; and
WHEREAS, in accordance with Resolution No. 7711, the Parks and Recreation Advisory
Committee has the appropriate jurisdiction to review park naming recommendations; and
WHEREAS, in accordance with the requirement of Resolution No. 7711, Criteria forNaming
Parks, Buildings and other Public Facilities, City parks, buildings or other public facilities may be
named for a person or entity who has made a significant contribution to the Redlands community,
provided such person shall be deceased for at least (3) years prior to designating his or her name for
a park, building or other public facility, unless waived by the City Council.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
REDLANDS AS FOLLOWS:
Section 4. The dining room in the Redlands Community Senior Center, located at 111 W
Lugonia Ave,. will be known as the "Mary Reyes Sanchez Dining Room."

EXHIBIT "A"
Mary Reyes Sanchez: Mary Reyes Sanchez has devoted over 25 years to serving the Redlands
community through her volunteer work at the Joslyn Senior Center and the Redlands Community
Senior Center. Her roles have included assisting with the senior bingo program, handling financial
contributions, and supporting the Senior Nutrition program. Mary's commitment extended to
organizing and decorating for special events, and her involvement in the Senior Activities and Parks
and Recreation Advisory Boards further highlighted her dedication. Her enthusiasm for community
service, coupled with her participation in senior activities like line dancing and group travel,
underscored her significant impact on enhancing senior living in Redlands.
