The City of Redlands is pleased to submit this letter of support for San Bernardino County
Regional Parks' application for the California Department of Transportation ATP grant to
fund the expansion of the Santa Ana River Trail (SART).
San Bernardino County Regional Parks, at the direction of the Board of Supervisors, is
tasked with the development of riding and hiking (non -motorized) trails within San
Bernardino County. This has been identified as a component of the San Bernardino
County Non -Motorized Transportation Plan. Funding this proposal will promote the
development of Phase IV-B/C of the SART, a 3.3-mile expansion from Orange Street in
Redlands, CA to Opal Street in Mentone, CA. This portion of SART will provide residents
of Redlands and other trail users, a safe and healthy transportation alternative that links
to schools, work, and recreational destinations throughout Southern California.
The City of Redlands fully supports San Bernardino County Regional Parks' steps towards
improving public health by reducing pollution emissions, increasing opportunities for
active living, and creating community connections.
